Looks a lot like cotton ticking but is called Hickory Cloth. I had to look this up - "twilled cotton fabric with vertical stripes used traditionally in the US by railway workers to make work shirts as it's very hard wearing". FYI - Twill is a fabric weave that results in diagonal lines through the fabric and includes denim, chino, drill, gabardine
So hard wearing, looks very 'beachy' and a multitude of uses
